Fresh, Home Made Pasta Is Still Great Made By Hand Or With A Pasta Machine

Do you make fresh pasta at home? No? It is very simple and easy to do. There is nothing to compare to the taste of fresh pasta, once you taste it you will not want store bought again. The ingredients are simple. You will need eggs, water, oil and flour. How easy is that?

Put the ingredients together and knead your pasta dough until it starts to shine and become silky. Using a hand rolling pin or pasta machine, make dough into a sheet of uniform thickness. You can choose from many pasta machine manufactures for your pasta maker.

I have an Atlas pasta machine made from stainless steel that I love and use often, probably once a month to produce two meal’s worth of fresh pasta. It only takes 5 minutes to make the dough, half an hour to let it rest, and 10 minutes to put the dough through the pasta maker to flatten it to the perfect thickness. Then I use the cutting attachment on my Atlas pasta machine to cut the pasta into the right noodle.

Then its time to put the fresh pasta into salted, boiling water for around 5 minutes. Then its done. You will be very surprised. Your family and friends will love the flavor of fresh pasta.

I have tried many different pasta machines and have always stayed true to my Atlas pasta machine. It is extreemely rugged and well designed by the Italians. Who better to make a pasta maker? The machine clamps securely to a counter top or a table top and is easy to operate by hand. You can get an electric model to make things even easier, but I prefer to use the hand crank instead.

You can buy special cutters to make different types of pasta or you can just use your pasta maker to rool out the dough and do your own ravioli or tortellini. You only need to make a filling and stuff and cut by hand. I have a cutting attachment that I use to make angel hair pasta and am thinking about getting another set of cutters to make linguine and wider pasta shapes.

If you want to impress your family and friends make some home made pasta. They will be surprised by the flavor and subtle texture. Just make sure you don’t tell them how easy it really is to make it. It will be one of your best kept secrets.

Making fresh pasta at home has been a Lauder family event for years. Family, friends and neighbors all play a role in making the dough and gathering at the table to savor the results.
